Itinerary CH08B: An Unforgettable Journey through Switzerland's Enchanting Landscapes and Cities

The program includes a trip on the Centovalli train to Locarno and then on to Bellinzona. You will continue your journey to Lucerne and then Bern. From here you will travel on the Green Train of the Alps and before returning, after four days, you will also take a boat trip on Lake Thun.

Day 1: Immersed in the Beauty of the Centovalli

• Your journey begins in Domodossola, where you'll board the Centovalli panoramic train. Prepare to be enchanted by a succession of evocative landscapes: pristine forests, majestic mountains, cascading waterfalls, and picturesque villages. You'll cross the Valtravaglia Bridge, the highest railway bridge in Europe, and let yourself be moved by the wild beauty of nature.
• Arriving in Locarno, the pearl of Lake Maggiore, you can enjoy a stroll along the lakeside, admire its historic buildings, and immerse yourself in the lively atmosphere of the city.
  In the afternoon, you'll continue by train to Bellinzona, the capital of the Canton of Ticino. Here, you'll be captivated by the three medieval castles - Castelgrande, Montebello, and Sasso Corbaro - UNESCO World Heritage Sites, which dominate the city from above. Walk along the ancient walls, explore the museums, and enjoy the panoramic view of the Ticino Valley.
• Overnight in Bellinzona.

Day 2: From Bellinzona to Lucerne: A Journey between Lakes and Mountains

• After breakfast, an exciting journey and a change of scenery await you. From Bellinzona, you'll reach Lucerne by train, crossing the splendid Leventina Valley and skirting Lake Lucerne.
  In Lucerne, let yourself be enchanted by its medieval old town, rich in historical buildings such as the famous Chapel Bridge and the Town Hall. Climb the Golden Tower to admire the panoramic view of the city and the lake. In the afternoon, you can take an excursion to Mount Rigi, known as the "Queen of the Mountains", enjoying breathtaking views of the Swiss Alps.
• Overnight in Lucerne.

Day 3: Discovering Lucerne and Bern

• Today will be dedicated to discovering Lucerne and Bern, the capital of Switzerland. In Lucerne, you can visit the Transport Museum, one of the largest in Europe, or take a boat trip on Lake Lucerne.
• In the afternoon, you'll head towards Bern, a UNESCO World Heritage city, famous for its perfectly preserved medieval old town. Admire the Zytglogge, the astronomical clock tower, stroll along the Bundesplatz, the main square, and visit Bern Cathedral.
• Overnight in Bern.

Day 4: A Farewell to Switzerland aboard the Green Train of the Swiss Alps

• Your last day in Switzerland will begin with a scenic ride on the Green Train of the Swiss Alps from Bern to Thun. You'll cross the charming Simme Valley, surrounded by snow-capped mountains and picturesque villages.
• Arriving in Thun, you'll board a boat to sail on Lake Thun, admiring the breathtaking views of the Alps and Oberhofen Castle.
  In the afternoon, you'll return to Domodossola by train, carrying with you the memories of an unforgettable journey through the unspoiled beauty of Switzerland.
